Canadian College Program for Future History Teachers

History teaches the comprehension of the pas, which assists people to deal with the present and offers probabilities for the future. Analysis and critical thinking form the center of this discipline and they are necessary skills in a fast changing society.
Students intending to major in History must take at least 4 History courses. These may be any four courses. A planned major should have a wide sampling of courses in Humanities and Social Sciences. Students intending to major in History at SFU must take 6 History courses during the first two years. If the students are planning for UBC, the demand is four History courses. Those students who are planning to take degrees should get a reading knowledge of a suitable non-English language.
Students who wish to become teachers can need some Canadian history. When you intend to study history in British Columbia area at the secondary level, you should complete your B.A. and a major in History in accordance with the demands of the university that you attend. When you intend to study at the elementary level, the demands also differ by institution. The SFU education program requires you have fulfilled three credits in Canadian history. UBC demands three credits in either Canadian geography or Canadian history, and a further six credits in Canadian studies that may comprise Canadian history.
